This is one of the easier resorts to access due to the proximity to several airports, good roads all the way to resort and the fact that Zell has its own station on the Austrian railway network. The closest airport is Salzburg (just 84km to the North), served by Ryanair and Easyjet nowadays from several regional airports across the UK, and from there you can be in resort in an hour and a half.
- Salzburg to Zell 84km, transfer time around 1.5hrs
- Innsbruck to Zell 152km, transfer time around 2hrs
- Munich to Zell 200km, transfer time around 2.5hrs
A rail transfer will be just as quick as a road transfer and no changes are needed. Trains go every hour or so from Salzburg city centre, so you will need to catch the shuttle bus from the airport. If you opt to drive there are plenty of car hire firms and you may find a vehicle useful during the week in order to explore the wider area. Other airports that serve Zell include Munich and Innsbruck.
Taking the train from home is an eco-friendly option and you can reach Zell with very few changes. Most people go via Paris and Munich but changing in Zurich works too. Trains link Munich and Salzburg regularly and the final leg to Zell will take just over an hour. Once in resort you should expect to have to get a taxi to your accommodation as the town is quite spread out around the lake and up the hillside. This won’t be an issue if you drive all the way of course, but the journey will realistically take you two days at over 1200km from the channel ports.
