Back to Wengen

The skiing in the Jungfrau region is split into three main areas. Grindelwald offers nice tree-lined skiing but the village hardly ever gets the sun, the Schilthorn has some awesome off piste below the Piz Gloria restaurant if you wish to follow in the footsteps of James Bond, and Kleine Scheidegg some 20 minutes above Wengen on the train is the busiest sector of the three.

Beginners will find the nursery slopes situated in the resort very convenient, unless poor snow conditions force them to ski higher up – a distinct possibility as the resort faces the sun and sits at just 1274m. Of the 200km of pistes more than two thirds are red runs, making this an intermediate paradise. Advanced skiers will enjoy testing their race skills on the famous Lauberhorn, which opens after the famous Wengen race weekend in mid-January, or honing their powder skills in the shadow of the mighty Eiger.
