Whether you are a non-skier, bad weather has driven you off the slopes or you simply want a change, there are a host of things to do in Val d’Isère. Neighbouring Tignes may also be worth a look.

Leisure activities in Val d’Isere
The leisure centre in Val d’Isère is open every day. Every ski liftpass valid from two to 15 days entitles you to one free swim!
In addition to the pool the centre has a climbing area, multi-activity sports hall, fitness suite, gym, squash courts and wellness zone. There are also a number of spas in Val d’Isere, mainly located in the resort hotels, where you can book yourself in for a bit of ‘R&R’.
Culture in Val d’Isere
The International Mountain Cultural Action group organises guided tours and snowshoe excursions to highlight the history and culture of Val d’Isère. The tours include a look at the resort’s Baroque church. There are also a couple of art galleries in Val d’Isere where you can just take some time out and even treat yourself to a great souvenir.
Other activities in Val d’Isere
In addition the resort offers some interesting alternative activites including visits to a local farm to see cheese making, pastry making classes, a climbing wall, ice climbing and the fabulous ice circuit where you can go ice driving or quad biking amongst many things. If you are sking with children then the dog sled rides in Tignes might appeal to them or ice skating. There are a number of companies who organise a sightseeing helicopter ride, just sit back and get the full picture of your beautiful surroundings – all this will come at quite a price though!
Events in Val d’Isere
Val itself holds an eclectic mix of events from the Val d’Isère Polo Masters to an international Alpine Ski Race for children: La Scara. But the biggest coup is being right next door to Tignes where they hold the Winter X Games Europe. It means you can ski over and watch the action without having the resort you’re staying in over run with press and media!
