St Martin is not the biggest of resorts, but it benefits from a diverse selection of accommodation providers. Whilst the neighbouring resorts of Val Thorens and Les Menuires are functional, and at times bleak, St Martin has a traditional village feel. There are several catered chalet operators here now and these can be a cost-effective and hassle-free form of accommodation.
The Alpine Club offers a private collection of luxury chalets – each one individually designed to provide a real mountain-home experience. A fine dining chef, host and chauffeur staffs each chalet. The company owners, Helen and Chris, are hands on (they live in St Martin), which ensures you experience exceptional service. Their chalet, The Ecurie has been nominated for best new Ski Chalet in the World Ski Awards.
If you are looking for the flexibility and privacy of self-catering there are plenty of beautiful chalets and apartments in the area. Try Peak Retreats for a nice selection of upmarket chalets (some with indoor pools). Chalet Alice Velut, in the centre of the village offers good value apartments. For more modest budgets you should find something suitable on the 16 page list of private rentals provided by the tourist office!
There are plenty of hotels to choose from here as well, and if you can afford to dine in luxury why not stay in La Bouitte with its 3 Michelin Star restaurant. It is in the neighbouring hamlet of St Marcel, but is linked by a regular shuttle bus. The Alp Hotel is a modest 3 star at the foot of the slopes, whilst the Hotel St Martin has been renovated to a high standard and all rooms are individually decorated in true alpine style.
