Turin Airport is around 100 km away from Sestriere and the ease of access to this resort makes it a great weekend ski destination. The transfer time from Turin is an hour and three quarters by road or an hour and a quarter by train to Oulx, 25km away and from where you will need to catch a bus or taxi up to resort. Budget carriers Easyjet and Ryanair both now fly to Turin from all over the UK so you shouldn’t have too much trouble finding a flight. There are several companies offering private minibus transfers too and you can expect to pay around €350 for a return in an 8 seater. Driving a hire car from the airport is a good option too as you will have the option of travelling to other resorts by car during your stay.

Sestriere is over 900km from the French channel ports so allow at least 9 hours if planning to drive all the way. The most direct route is to head south through France via Dijon, Lyon and Chambery before entering Italy by the the Frejus Tunnel rather than the Mont Blanc Tunnel. There are never normally problems with snowy roads but you should always carry snow chains just in case. The train journey from the UK is an eco-friendly method of travel and you can get to resort from London in 12 hours with very few changes.
