Back to Sauze d’Oulx

Sauze is not really a chalet destination with the catered chalet concept never really having caught on in Italy as it has done in France. The functional way in which the resort developed also doesn’t lend itself to chalet-style architecture. There are a few self-catered chalets to be found though and the tourist office can advise further. ABC (www.gestioniabc.it) has a good selection of apartments of varying sizes for holiday rentals. The vast majority of accommodation is in hotels and apartments but one notable exception is Chalet Chez Nous in the old town of Jouvenceaux – a historic 300 year old building, beautifully renovated to provide cosy accommodation on a B&B basis. Customer service is first class in this place and prices are reasonable at around €50 per night.

When looking at hotels in Sauze it is important to decide on location as well as budget. Whilst some places may seem ideal they may be located in the old town, a long way from ski school and the lifts. The most convenient of all the hotels happens to be one of the cheapest too. The Orso Bianco is at the top of the quad chair from Sauze and is rated as a 2-star. If this sounds too isolated take a look at the Stella Alpina, a family run 3 star just 100m from the foot of the slopes. The luxury choice around Sauze is undoubtedly the Grand Hotel La Torre (4 star) with unusual tower architecture, highly respected restaurant and extensive wellness facilities.
