Back to Saalbach

Whilst the centre of this resort is very compact the outskirts seem to run for miles and miles along the valley, so when booking any accommodation the first thing to do is to check the location on a map and the frequency of any bus services. By staying out of the centre you should also expect better prices. There is something for everyone here though and if you are on a tight budget try looking for a good value pension or a self-catered apartment through the tourist office website at www.saalbach.com . They have almost 500 apartments and guest houses listed on the site. The resort also has a youth hostel (Steinachhof) with accommodation from just €26 per night and only 500m from the centre. Rooms sleep between 2 and 6 and having been renovated just a few years ago the standard is surprisingly high.

Skichalets.nl are one of the few companies to offer catered chalet packages to Saalbach and if you want something all-inclusive you will have a better selection by considering the numerous hotels. At the top end of the scale the Art Hotel Kristiana is pricey but classy with all rooms decorated individually, and the Alpine Palace in nearby Hinterglemm is an opulent 5 star for those looking to be pampered. The Hotel Wechselberger is a modestly priced 3 star hotel offering good discounts for children sharing a family room. It also benefits from an indoor pool and a good central location.
