The obvious choice of airport for Saalbach is Salzburg given the fact that it is just 90km away and around an hour and a half by road. Salzburg is served by Ryanair and Easyjet nowadays from several regional airports across the UK. Munich is another option but you should allow in excess of three hours to reach resort from there.

If you opt to hire a car you may find it useful in resort depending on how far out of the centre you are staying. Leave the motorway at the Siegsdorf exit and then follow the signs for Saalbach. A rail transfer is a realistic option too with the closest station being 19km away in Zell am See. Regular buses run between the resorts (9 times per day in winter) to complete the final leg of the journey. Private transfers from Salzburg with ATS or Transfer Intelligence are also quite cost effective if your group can come close to filling an 8 seater minibus.
Taking the train from home is an eco-friendly option and you can reach Zell with very few changes before catching the aforementioned bus to Saalbach. Most people go via Paris and Munich but changing in Zurich works too. Trains link Munich and Salzburg regularly and the final leg to Zell will take just over an hour. The drive from the UK is a long one but not impossible. It is likely to take around 11 hours from Calais and the best route is via Stuttgart, Munich and Salzburg.
