Most of Merano 2000 is geared towards families and this includes the 40 km of pistes. There are some pistes for the more advanced skiers, namely Mittager and Steilhang, but in the main they are easy to medium. There is a special area for children and the Falzeben piste is designated for children, there is also a mini snow park for the little ones on their snowboards. The pistes of Wallpach, Oswald and Kesselberg are aimed at intermediates.
Lift passes can be purchased for a varied length of time – even by the hour – and there are multi-ticket options available for family savings. There are a number of lifts including the cable car that takes you to the centre of resort, the Falzeben lift is an endless loop cable car, along with five other chairlifts and three magic carpets on the children’s slopes. Access is therefore easy and queues are pretty much unheard of. This resort is a great place for the family to learn to ski in a safe environment.
On the mountain there are several tradition and family run huts where you can fill up and enjoy a break relaxing in the sun.
