Back to Livigno

Impressive modern lift systems serve pistes on both sides of the valley and the skiing in Livigno is more extensive than other budget destinations. This valley that is trapped between the Alps and the Dolomites has regular snow from November until May and is growing in popularity all the time. Snowboarders are attracted to Livigno by the low proportion of drag lifts, two boarders cross courses and a low-cost party vibe. There are still a few slopes that boarders are not permitted to use though.

The piste map shows a few black runs but in reality they’re no harder than a steep red and the vast selection of other gentler slopes make this destination first class for novices.  The nursery areas are at village level but retain good snow coverage thanks to the altitude, and progression to the long and open intermediate pistes is easy enough. Off-piste is technically not permitted in Livigno, although many seem to ignore the warning signs.
