Back to Les Menuires

As one of the largest ski areas in the world there is certainly no shortage of mountain restaurants in the Three Valleys. You could ski here every season for the rest of your life and not try them all, but if you can sample half of those listed in our directory you will have done well. Night time in Les Menuires is however a very different ball game. When the lifts shut the choice of bars and restaurants shrinks dramatically and the resort is pretty subdued when compared to other more glamorous ski towns in the area.

The resort lives up to its reputation as a functional and convenient base for snow addicts, and in the same way that you wouldn’t pick it for its alpine charm, it will never be top of the tree when it comes to gastronomical repertoire or a mecca for party animals. That said, there are a few good restaurants and if you have the right company and enough to drink, the few crowded and cheesy nightclubs in the basements of the concrete jungle will feel like the best place in the world! Some of these are linked to the residences above and therefore staffed by the big tour operators such as Club Med and First Choice. There are 30 restaurants in Les Menuires and, despite sounding like a lot, they can get very busy in high season. It is best to book ahead for your chalet host night off, otherwise you will find yourself back at the chalet with a takeaway pizza in hand!

Restaurants

Anyone looking for some fine dining should try la Bouitte. Carrying two Michelin stars and an ecclectic gastronomic style that mixes textures and flavours with fresh local products. As always though, expect a thorough dose of typical Savoyard food (cheese, potatoes, pork meat), Italian and pizzerias and even Belgium specialiteis and Carribean food. Wines of the Savoyard region are well know and include Mondeuse, Chignin, Rousette, Aprement and the most famous grappes in Savoie!

Après ski

If you want a fun atmosphere to relax and enjoy live music throughout the season consider a trip to le Challenge, situated in la Croisette. For some games try le Mousse with table football and pool tables. L’Original is a new bar in la Croisette with live music and DJs throughout the season. Le Kube is another new bar in la Croissette offerring up a more laid back music experience: live piano concerts, cocktails and dreams.

If you want something a little more raucous head to Chalet du Sunny for live DJs on the terrace with the sun setting on peaks as see off your day.
