Les Contamines is situated in the foothills of Mont Blanc, close to Chamonix, in the Haute Savoie region of the Rhones Alpes Mountains. The resort enjoys easy access by plane and is only one hour from Geneva International Airport, with train links to/from all major French cities (and Geneva) available at the nearby St Gervais le Fayet railway station.

Flying to Les Contamines

Geneva Airport in Switzerland is the closest and most convenient airport at just under 100km away.  Lyon Saint Exupéry Airport is the second option at 214km from the resort.

Airport transfers to Les Contamines

SAT bus runs a regular public service to the resort from both Geneva and Lyon. For the quickest and most hassle-free way of travelling to Les Contamines, take a private transfer from a company such as Mountain drop-offs.

Driving to Les Contamines

Driving to the resort from the UK will take you about ten hours from Calais. The motorways are the fastest route, but bear in mind that you will have to pay around €60-70 in toll charges each way. The most common journey passes Calais, Reims, Dijon, Geneva and finally Les Contamines. Access by car is off the A40 motorway (Paris to Lyon), and from there it’s 12km (20min) to the centre of Les Contamines. Make sure you carry snow chains and that you know how and when to use them – this is a legal requirement in the French Alps.

Taking the train to Les Contamines

Saint Gervais Le Fayet is the closest train station to Les Contamines and is a 12km drive from the ski resort. Bus SAT run a regular public service between the station and the resort, or you can easily book a taxi for this short 20min transfer.

Note: If you are arriving in to Geneva by train, be sure to allow plenty of time to cross the city, as the trains to France depart from the old station at Eau Vive.
