Back to Le Grand Bornand

Le Grand Bornand is not often covered by the standard UK ski holiday companies and for this reason is a lot quieter and more French than the better-known resorts. It is growing, with MGM currently building apartments in the area – whether this is a good or bad thing is up for debate. There is the standard sort of accommodation with many privately owned chalets and apartments. However, most are offered self-catered around here with just a handful of catered chalets. There are also some very individual and beautifully renovated places to stay but you will struggle to find typical holiday apartment complexes. Staying in Le Grand Bornand itself has the advantage of being in a larger town with plenty of activities for skiers and non-skiers alike, although there is no direct access to the skiing.

Chinaillon is a quiet and picturesque village offering slope-side accommodation but also a good choice of bars and restaurants – even a nightclub. Le Ferme de Florent is in a perfect ski in and out position and just a five minute stroll from the bars of Chinaillon. For true ski in and out conveniences have a look at Ferme de Soleil on the piste high above Chinaillon. The only access is by skidoo so you may feel cut-off once in the chalet! Bleriot and Chiron are modern luxurious chalets on the piste with saunas.
