Back to Laax/Flims

Laax is the rebranded name for the ski resort in Switzerland comprising Flims, Laax and Falera. Together these resorts make up the area know as the Alpenarena. They are all linked by the efficient Arena shuttle bus service. Each village has its own distinctive character.

Laax

Laax (Laax Murschetg) is a small and contemporary village at 1100m that has grown from very basic amenities to a resort in itself. Any signs of the older town are quickly being hidden by the new award-winning and minimalist (brutalist) Rocks Resort. All accommodation in Laax is minutes from the main cable car or gondola access to the mountain. Having stayed in the Rocks Resort we can vouch for it’s luxury. If you are feeling youthful, and can take the thumping bass lines, the Rider’s Palace has been an iconic place to stay for snowboarders for years.

Flims

The village of Flims (Flims Dorf), at 1100m, offers a range of apartments and hotels and has more of a traditional mountain village feel. The Alpenhotel Flims is particularly popular with families as is the centrally located Arena Hotel. Most of the upmarket hotels are located in the pine forests around nearby Flims Waldhaus (1300m) and when it comes to cuisine it is hard to beat the 4 star Hotel Adula. Its superb restaurant has been awarded 14 Gault Miliau points.

Falera

Falera (1200m) is a much smaller mountain village and staying here is really only for those of you looking for quiet nights in!

Luxury and modest accommodation available

It really is possible to find inexpensive accommodation in Laax as well as 5 star luxuries. Compared to many resorts, Laax offers good value and genuine Swiss service. There are lots of self-catered apartments and Alpen FeWo is a local agency with plenty of choice in three different complexes.
