The ski area reached directly from the town centre is home to the Streif, the piste on which the famous Hahnenkamm race is run, but it holds plenty of interest for both intermediate and expert skiers, including beginner slopes at village level. The neighbouring town of Kirchberg also offers access to this area, as well as to the Gaisberg Sports Mountain complex. Across the valley the north side of the Kitzbuheler Horn can be reached. Having no snowmaking equipment this south-facing area can be bare late in the season, but it is a great place to catch the sun during a cold spell. Another area further up the valley is stretching from Jochberg to Mittersill offers more opportunities for intermediate skiers. This area is now linked to the main Kitzbuhel area by the giant 3S gondola.
