It will probably come as a surprise that Grindelwald doesn’t have many of the stereotypical catered chalets that are usually to be found in Swiss ski resorts. Perhaps this is because Grindelwald is just as busy during the summer months when this style of accommodation is less in demand. However, there are an abundance of self-catering chalets in Grindelwald, although walking distance to the town centre will vary greatly, so do double check the address. You won’t have to worry about communication though, as virtually everyone in Grindelwald speaks English.
The ideal positioning for your accommodation in Grindelwald would be somewhere between the Firstbahn and Bahnhof (train station). From there you will have a very easy journey to the Gondola or Ski Train. Some hotels in Grindelwald have their own bus service, allowing you to return to your accommodation with ease after a day on the mountain.
