Getting to Grindelwald couldn’t be easier with the extensive Swiss train network. Wherever you’re landing in Switzerland there are easy train connections that deliver you straight into the heart of Grindelwald.

- Basel – 2.5 hrs
- Zurich – 3 hrs
- Geneva – 3.5 hrs
Road transfer :
- Bern to Grindelwald 74km, transfer time around 1hr
- Basel to Grindelwald 172km, transfer time around 2.5 hrs
- Zurich to Grindelwald 151km, transfer time around 2 hrs
- Geneva to Grindelwald 230km, transfer time around 3 hrs
From the train station there are 5 bus lines that will take you all over town, as Grindelwald is quite spread out the busses are key – especially if you’re staying somewhere out of the centre. The buses are free with your ski pass (night bus +3fr) so just hop on.
When you arrive and are looking for the supermarket or ski rentals/schools you should take the bus to Bahnhof (train Station), this is where you’ll find all of the essential shops and ski schools.
How to get to the 3 ski areas connected directly to Grindelwald –
First – bus line 1, 2, 3 or 4 and exit at Firstbahn.
Kleine Scheidegg – any bus line and exit at Bahnhof for the connecting train.
Männlichen – bus line 1 & 3 and exit at Männlichenbahn
Before hitting the slopes you can buy your lift pass at either gondola stations or at the train station. If you have time to spare then buy your lift passes the day before as there are sometimes queues to buy them in the morning.
