Toboggan runs – Hintertux

There are three starting points for the toboggan runs in Hinterrux, they are the mountain huts Bichlalm, Höllensteinhütte and Grieralm. There are some great runs for Tobogganing in Mayrhofen, wonderful scenery through the Ziller Valley. Make your way to the Fasthof Wiesenhof and enjoy a warm drink to keep you going before setting off on your toboggan run down into Mayrhofen. Beware though, the run is not lit so you will need torches at night. For a really long run take the Gerlasstein cable car on Hainzenberg and whizz down the 7 km, floodlit toboggan run in Zillertal. Plenty of traditional mountain bars to stop off at on the way...

You aren't allowed to take your toboggan on to the ski slopes but from the top station of the funicular Ortisei-Rasciesa, a well-prepared toboggan run (4 miles long) takes you down to the valley. The toboggan run in Verbier is a 10km path from Savoleyres to la Tzoumaz  You'll see it marked on your piste map with a red dotted line. You can hire toboggans in most ski hire shops in the resort. Children can toboggan on the nursery slopes after the lifts close for the day.

You'll see the Gampen Toboggan run marked in yellow on your piste map, at the top of Nassereinbahn. You can hire a rodel from most sports shots. Take the gondola up and toboggan down. The run can be busy and is very fast is open late on Tuesday and Thursday evenings but your lift pass does not cover the gondola ride after 4.30pm. You can stop part way down the run to eat at the rustic Rodelalm.
