Meet Ed Guigonnet. Photo credit: Jérémy Voirin

Ed Guigonnet may live in France and have a French surname,  but he proudly flies the flag for Wales on the international Alpine skiing circuit thanks to his great great grandparents and his great grandmother who all hailed from Tenby and his grandmother who was born in Pembroke Dock – not an area of Wales noted for its ski resorts!

Ed is only 19 years old but already in the top 10 GB overall in all Alpine skiing disciplines:
10th in Slalom, 10th in Giant Slalom, 7th in Super G and 9th in Downhill.

He is the current World FIS CIT Arnold Lunn Cup winner and also Welsh Champion in both Slalom and Giant Slalom.

This Season 2020/21, Ed will start participating on the Europa Cup circuit, with his major events being the World Junior Championships, in Bansko, Bulgaria and the GB Championships in Tignes, France.

Ed’s 2-year project is to be established in the top 5 GB overall, in order to gain his place on the world cup circuit within 5 years and to participate in his first Olympic Games in 2026.

Ed’s skiing is self-funded.  A full ski racing and training year costs over £25 000.  This is financed by grants, donations from individual supporters, sponsorship from several companies and his parents attempting to fund the rest.

This year, for obvious reasons, many supporters are willing, but no longer in a position,to support Ed financially, so he is looking for NEW sponsors to take be able to continue his training to reach his Olympic dream.

Ed is looking for a Welsh company to sponsor him.

If you can help Ed achieve his Olympic dream, or would just like some further information, please contact drop him a line.
