To finish off the 2017/18 season, I took a short trip to Fiss in Austria with Niche Destinations.
The village of Fiss is part of the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis region which offers 214km of slopes ranging from 1,200m in altitude up to 2,820m. The resort is very family friendly, with a significant investment in activities for children.
We stayed in the newly-refurbished Hotel Tirol — a very smart hotel just five or so minutes’ walk to the main ski area. It’s family run and very friendly, and features an impressive spa and infinity pool overlooking the mountains.
The hotel offers an amazing dining experience that includes local produce and some very special steaks — to say more would ruin the surprise.

Hotel Tirol offers a week half board from €839 (approx. £740) per person including a 6-day lift pass. Fly to Innsbruck from Gatwick (EasyJet or BA offer regular departures throughout the winter months); transfer by road is 1 ¼ hours — use a public taxi or ask the hotel to make private arrangements.
