Offering three boutique ski chalets, the Alpine Club are more than a home from home. In fact, if my home was as luxurious and thoughtfully equipped as this I’m not sure I’d ever leave it.
The Alpine Club’s story began in 2004, with luxury winter holidays in St Martin de Belleville. Couple Chris and Helen Raemers now have three of their own chalets in resort, each of which they have restored or built themselves. Their three chalets are close together in the lovely hamlet of Villarabout, just minutes from the main village of St Martin de Belleville.
The chalets have all been conceived and delivered by Helen and Chris: Chris is an architect and his attention to detail and sympathetic use of local materials is evident in all three chalets whilst Helen oversees the interiors – you can expect luxurious bedlinen, Hypnos beds, thoughtful detail throughout and a serious case of bathroom envy.
The fabulous food matches the living experience: six course dinners accompanied by wines chosen to complement the menu. There is a complimentary bar (house wines, beer and soft drinks) as well as champagne on arrival.
I very much got used to tea in bed in morning and by the end of the trip I’d almost forgotten how to carry my own skis. The chauffeurs whizzed us back and forward the main lift. In short, I came away well and truly spoilt.
And it’s not just MadDogSki that like the lovely folk at the Alpine Club. Chamois Lodge was nominated ‘1 of the Coolest Chalets on the Slopes’ (The Times Oct 2012) and the Ecurie was nominated for best new Ski Chalet in the World Ski Awards (2016).
Each of the three chalets are unique but have some common features: windows which make the most of the views, cosy fires, local material abound throughout. And a truly personal service from both Helen and Chris and all their team in resort.
