This busy junction is served by three mountain restaurants – from where skiers head to the pistes of Osthang, St Christoph or up to Valluga. Two of them, Galzig and Kandahar (the latter is upstairs), are self-service and have the same menu. They may not have the most refined atmosphere, with their sparse wooden tables and benches, but the views through the large windows are impressive enough to distract you and there’s plenty of space to sit. Good place to take the kids as there’s lots of room. Canteen options include a dish of the day (eg schnitzel) , pizza, a good salad bar and roast chicken.

The Verwall stube, located through the Kandahar, serves cordon-bleu cuisine overlooking the mountain peaks. A sun-terrace with après-ski music and ice-bar allows you to enjoy the views. Choices include steak tartare, carpaccio and a wider-than-usual selection of fish dishes, including bouillabaisse.

Open 8.30am-4.15pm.

Take the Galzigbahn direct from St Anton straight into restaurant area.

Good choice for children
