Set at Stuben mid-station, Albona mountain restaurant is well-placed for sun and a cheaper-than-average (but still tasty) self-service mountain lunch. Toasted cheese sandwich, spaghetti  and wurstl  are some of the options. The low prices mean that there is often a queue at lunch time and finding a table inside may be hard, a problem that can be exacerbated by ski schools making block reservations.

Outside however there is a large sun-terrace with picnic tables and a sweeping view over the mountains. A modern building by local standards but with historical information displayed inside about Hannes Schneider the Godfather of ski instruction, who was born in the village, is interesting.

Situated at the top of Albona I (2-man chairlift) which leaves from Stuben village, no pedestrian or telephone.

Our researcher likes this restaurant for it’s relatively cheapness and the great views.

Open 10am-4pm.
