Verbier – On the piste
Sitting at the heart of the 4 Valleys, with 412km of slopes, it is unlikely that anyone will ever truly exhaust the options on or off-piste. Advanced skiers and boarders will thrive here with Mont Fort, at over 3000m, offering just one piste off the summit, a long and steep mogul field! Everything else is off-piste and expert skiers tend to venture ‘off the back’. Mont Gele has no groomed piste at all, but some of the best steeps in the world.
Beginners are well catered for and Le Rouge, below Carrefour, is good for building confidence. Intermediates will enjoy the women’s downhill ‘Piste de l’Ours’ but may get frustrated at the end of the day as the main runs back to resort start to resemble motorways. Whilst the 4 Valleys is still tricky to navigate the lift system has been improved dramatically in recent years, so at least the long queues for uplift should be a thing of the past.
