Les Menuires – France
Set in the heart of the 3 Vallées Les Menuires is part of the largest ski area in the world. The resort is linked with the smaller village of Saint Martin de Belleville and as such offers a diverse range of skiing, dining and accomodation options.
Ski area
The mountain scenary is spectacular with sumptuous views from the prestigious summits like le Mont de la Chambre (2850m), la Pointe de la Masse (2804m), le Roc des 3 Marches (2704 m) and la Tougnète (2430 m).
The resort
However les Menuires itself is purpose built resort and looks like an assortment of multi-storey car parks standing out on the snow. It must also be one of the world’s most functional resorts, offering good value for money compared to the other mega resorts nearby.
Getting there
Located between Val Thorens above and the charming village St Martin de Belleville below, Les Menuires is ideally located for those looking for good access to the extensive and varied slopes of Les Trois Vallees. The easiest access is via the airport at Chambéry (one hour away) or train to Moutiers (20km). Read more...
Families
Les Menuires is a 'Family Plus' resort. This French accreditation recognises ski resorts that offer extensive activities, children’s clubs, ski lessons, courses and facilities for families.
Things to do
The resort has a large selection of shops, bars and restaurants. The village centres of La Croisette and Bruyeres are where you will find most of the shops. And those two centres also offer an outdoor ice rink and heated pool to tempt non-skiers, or those with more energy after a day’s activities. As with most purpose built French resorts, the quality of nightlife will largely depend on who is in the resort and when but it is never legendary.
