Fernie - an old mining town

The resort itself sits just above the old mining town of Fernie, this means you can either stay in resort or in the town. Fernie town centre is pedestrianised making it a pleasant space to enjoy the wonder of the Rockies and there is a regular bus service to the resort area.

In addition to the quality of its powder snow, Fernie Alpine Resort has also become famous for the quantity of snow that falls on its slopes - up to an incredible 37 feet of snow in a season. As such it attracts a wide range of skiers and riders from around the world.

In fact Fernie boasts the most snow, the most ski runs and the biggest vertical in the Rockies, making it an increasingly popular place for Brits to try.There is over 2500 acres of skiable terrain, 142 named runs, 5 alpine bowls, snowmaking and grooming equipment and a great beginner's area giving you a true winter playground for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities.

 

Where to stay

The accommodation is varied with lots of ski-in, ski-out in the resort. If your budget allows you can soak in your own private hot tub in a 5-star mountain chalet, just a snowball's throw from the slopes, or watch the sunset from the balcony of your own private apartment.
