Water slide ride in Les Arcs
Posted by Tim Wilson 11th April 2012
In Les Arcs there is always something to do. When the skiing conditions start to get spring-like and the afternoon slush makes it hard work on the legs there is an answer... The Water Slide!
Situated next to the snowpark above Arc 1800 and Arc 1600, this is a great place to go and hang out in the afternoon and spectate or participate. You might want to leave the latter till your final day if you don't want to spend the rest of the week with soaking boots.
In brief the water slide is an artificial water-filled pool designed so that (with enough speed and technique) you can ski over it. Once you've got that down, you can try all kinds of combos and variations like this guy who made it partway switch before falling in!
As you can imagine, quite a few people end up soaked...
About the author
Tim Wilson: Having done my first winter season in Whistler, Canada, I made my European debut in Val Thorens working for Erna Low. They are such a great company that I couldn't resist doing another season in VT before moving to Avoriaz for 2 more, followed by a winter in Val d'Isere. Since then I've been in la Plagne for the last 4 winters, still with Erna Low! Over this time I have gradually been converted from a snowboarder to a skier and now that I am good enough to ski in powder I am generally on two planks rather than one
