Try a smaller resort to save money

If you are still looking for that great bargain ski holiday, have you considered one of the smaller resorts in France? You can often save some considerable money, lift passes and ski hire are generally cheaper and although you may not have the extensive terrain of the Three Valleys, say, you also won't have to pay the high costs. Flaine, FrancePV holidays are a French company who have accommodation in some of the smaller resorts in France, Flaine, Serre Chevalier and Les Carroz to name a few. They have released some deals for this season at some of these resorts, you may just bag yourself a little gem...

Pierre & Vacances Les Terrasses d'Azur, Isola 2000. A two-bedroom apartment sleeping up to six people from 10-17 March costs £630 which is just £15 per person per night. A six-day lift pass costs £95 and six-day ski hire costs £51. Isola 2000 is located in the southern Alps and is known for its exceptional amounts of snow and sunshine. The comfortable apartments in Residence Les Terrasses d'Azur overlook the slopes and ski runs and shops are easily accessible on the free funicular railway. All apartments have a balcony and a bakery ordering service is available,

Pierre & Vacances Residence L'Alpaga, Serre-Chevalier. A one-bedroom apartment sleeping up to four people from 17-24 March costs £482 which is just £17 per person per night. A six-day lift pass costs £137 and six-day ski hire costs £51. L'Alpaga is located at the heart of the village of Villeneuve La Sale at the foot of some of the most beautiful summits in the Ecrins National Park. This residence is 200 metres from the ski lifts, 50 metres from the shops and Pierre & Vacances offers preferential spa rates at L'Espace Thalasso-Frome which is just a 15 minute walk from the residence.

Pierre & Vacances Residence Les Trois Domaines, Ax-Les-Thermes, Pyrenees. A studio apartment sleeping two people from 31 March- 7 April costs £233 which is £17 per person per night. A six-day lift pass costs £132 and six-day ski hire costs £39. The residence has views of the Pyrenees and is built in traditional, local materials, blending perfectly into the landscape. Each apartment has a balcony or terrace and guests have access to the residences' heated outdoor swimming pool. The cable car and shops are a few minutes walk away.

Lift passes and ski hire are also great value. For example, a six-day ski pass in Les Carroz-d'Araches and Isola 2000 costs £95 whereas the same pass costs £202 in Val d'Isere, which is a 52 per cent difference in price. Additionally, six-day ski hire from Skiset is 41 per cent cheaper in Isola 2000 than in Val d'Isere at £51 rather than £87.
