Choosing a suitable resort as a beginner skier can be a difficult decision. We asked ski holiday experts Alpine Elements which French ski resorts they would recommend for beginners. The Go Ski Go Board campaign from Snowsport England (supported by the Tirol Tourist Board) is kicking off this month, and last week I had the chance to go to the launch event at Hemel Snow Centre, both to find out what it’s all about and to have a go at snowboarding. It was Thursday September 5th – most likely the last hot day of the year, if you remember?

After much anticipation we arrived in Austria and were greeted by snowy Alps and a stand-up shot of the potent local schnapps at our Mayrhofen chalet. Everything was as it should be. Now to sort out our ski rental.

With my first ever ski holiday approaching fast, the time had come to start researching some cheap flights to Europe. I’ve always been under the impression that if you want a good flight deal, then you go straight to the easyJet, Monarch and Ryanair websites, and do a labour intensive search through all of London’s airports, on all three websites.

From 4pm to 6pm if you've never tried skiing or snowboarding before you can try it for just £1 on The Snow Centre’s Easter Sunday Ski or Snowboard Taster Sessions.

For ages 4 years and upwards, adults and juniors are welcomed to try their chosen snowsport in a 15 minute session on the slope with our friendly Instructors. £1 includes skis or snowboard, boots and helmet hire plus 15 minutes on the slope.
