Broken eyes and bumps

Posted by Dan Scott 23rd March 2010

Hello to everyone out there, mountain and lowland dwellers alike.

Well, it’s been a while since my last blog, sorry! I myself have been recovering from injury following the Chamonix bump bash. Last Wednesday saw yet another inter resort Bumps competition on Grand Montets – Chamonix. The winners were the formidable team Cham and it was a well deserved win. A beautiful sunny day played host to the event and all teams were in fighting form. Verbier were donning retro 80’s wear and the final saw Zermatt face Chamonix. I was racing for Zermatt(obviously) and took a big crash off the last kicker fracturing my eye socket in two places. Chamonix had an awesome team and the best resort (on the day) won! Well done Cham.

Otherwise here in Zermatt, it’s the quiet before the storm. With Easter arriving momentarily it’s you last chance to avoid queing this week! The pistes are in good condition as 65% of our slopes are now supported by snow cannons.

The off piste however is very unstable and the last of our previous snow is sliding of the open faces. But more is on the way in the latter part of this week! Temperatures are a comfortable +10/+12 in resort and plus temperatures up on the hill too are supplying some ever welcome spring like skiing.

Coming soon to Zermatt we have the “Zermatt Unplugged” festival. With acts like Lionel Richie, Billy Idol and Newton Faulkner it’s gonna be a welcome musical treat for us here in resort. It runs from 13-17 April and tickets can be purchased online at www.zermatt-unplugged.com or www.starticket.ch
Hopefully see you there, you know i’ll be at the front for Billy Idol (legend).
That’s me out, Bring on the snow!
