What a week to finish off this excellent season. There was some moaning and groaning when Les Arcs' management decided to close all of Peisey/Vallandry and Arc1600 and all but the Transarc gondola in 1800.

For over 20 years, La Clusaz has been celebrating the end of the season with a two day festival, the ‘Defi Foly’, at Lake Confins in Lake Annecy Ski Resorts region. This weekend, 28th and 29th April, over 150 crazy competitors will try and cross the 180m lake on all manner of sliding objects, from skis, to snowboards to monoskis,  all trying to beat the 155m record set in 2010.

Most people think living in Whistler is a 24/7 party. The truth is there can be spells where nothing is going on. Weeks of boredom. Being one of the most expensive places to live it's usually because everyone is broke. For instance there is only one festival in Whistler during the winter however; when it rains it pours.

We are now in our last week of skiing in La Rosiere and it has just not stopped snowing! For the last six days we’ve had fresh powder on the slopes every morning and, surprisingly for this time of year, it’s staying there all day. A few weeks ago and it was another story: The snow was melting, grass was emerging, pistes were closing and people were sunbathing. However, now it’s back to wearing January weather clothing, thermals and all!

As the ski season draws to a close we expect sunny days and slushy snow. This year that came and went and now it's back to winter conditions. Tuesday was the only day this week where the weather was supposed to clear. Alarms were set and at 9am, a peek outside was met with dense fog. I was all but ready to go back to sleep when a friend called with promises of blue skies in the forecast for later on.

Morzine got the shock of its life last week when the Basscamp Music Festival kicked off. Over 500 lovers of electronic music filled the après terraces, underground bars and clubs of Morzine over 5 nights.

There’s been fresh snow in the Alps over the weekend according to reports on skiinfo.co.uk.

Powder alarms for more than 20cm (eight inches) of new snow in 24 hours were generates by still-open ski areas from north-to-south and east-to-west of Europe’s main ski mountain range – good news for anyone still planning to hit the slopes at one of the several hundred ski areas still open.

In Les Arcs there is always something to do. When the skiing conditions start to get spring-like and the afternoon slush makes it hard work on the legs there is an answer... The Water Slide!

This Spring Hemel Hempstead Snow Centre is celebrating its 4th year as one of the UK’s top destinations for indoor skiing and snowboarding. They’ll be throwing a party over May bank holiday weekend, with all sorts of freebees, offers and special events.

Here is the latest snow report from J2Ski and as the weather seems to be finally warming up in the UK there have been snowfalls in Europe, Canada and even Scotland. There are a number of resorts still open across Europe, to make the most of the late snow, and things are gearing up over in New Zealand and Australia.
