I am dedicating this blog in the memory of Eric Rousseau. You probably didn't know Eric, although you might have, he did travel to Europe as a member and last year captain of the Canadian team at Interski, a collaboration held in Europe to unify the techniques of skiing and instruction. He would have been the funny Frenchman, charming any lovely ladies. He would have been the life of the party, making Donald Duck noises and exclaiming " Oh,la,la!" any time he was trying to emphasise something.

It's October. Leaves are turning golden, the harvest moon will be rising soon, and six or so weeks until Whistler/Blackcomb chairlifts start turning! I'm starting to notice new faces in town, a sign the winter is coming. Second weekend in October also brings us Thanksgiving for us Canadians. A day dedicated to roasting a big turkey and spending the day in from the cold watching four hour long movies. One last feast with the family before the harvest is brought in and the fields are left bare, looking at a long winter of rationing the summer's crop. With my family 500 km's away, and without wheels of any kind to get there I celebrated Thanksgiving in a different way. Instead of mash potatoes and gravy I will be indulging in the Whistler/Blackcomb Turkey Sale!
