It’s official; tomorrow sees the official kick-off of the winter season here in Chamonix! From tomorrow (8/12), Chamonix is open for skiing every day, with Les Grands Montets, widely known as the most technical of the local areas, opening the majority of their terrain. Marmottons, Pierre A Ric and most importantly Bochard will be open, the latter of the three being the high-speed gondola that accesses some of the best terrain in Europe. We’re off!

This week has pretty much seen perfect mid-winter skiing & riding conditions; tons of fresh snow lying around everywhere and beautiful blue skies overhead. We took a walk up to Lognan, the Les Grands Montets midstation, to see how much snow had fallen, and were quickly up to our knees! Fortunately we came across a friendly beagle halfway through the hike who was more than happy to show us the way. Having to call its owner later that afternoon and explain how we had accidentally taken her dog on an epic, marathon hike was slightly more awkward!
