If you have booked through a tour operator or a hotel, chances are they will organise your lift pass for you. If you are travelling independently then you can purchase your pass on the internet. Go to the website and  click on ‘ski-passes’ for further details.  The main lift pass office is by the Médran lifts.

Passes can also be purchased at Savoleyres and at the Le Chable lift office – useful if you arrive early by train. Lift passes of over three days are hands-free ‘smartcards’ that cost CHF 5. Passes of three days and more require a photo which will be scanned and added to the electronic pass. A passport with a current photo will work. Ski passes can be bought from 3pm the day before use.

There are no free beginner lifts in Verbier but a half-day pass at Les Esserts is a good choice for learners. The official line is that lost passes will not be replaced – you will be offered insurance when paying. It’s worth keeping your receipt, though, just in case a replacement can be negotiated.
