In the centre of St Christoph (20 mins from St Anton by bus), this mountain restaurant is out of town but definitely worth the trip for a special occasion. Original, rustic, stylish; the Hospiz alm serves authentic Tyrolean food with warm and careful hospitality. Within the restaurant there are private rooms, big tables for groups to share, tucked-away tables for two and – surprisingly – a slide that takes you down to the loos in the basement (actually for transporting cases of wine to the extensive cellar!).
A taxi from St Anton costs around €30 one-way in the evening. The restaurant is also open for lunch (outside on the terrace is best) with a simpler, cheaper menu – our researcher particularly enjoyed the enormous plate of spare ribs with baked potato and sour cream.
Open 9.30am-Midnight, food served from 11.30am, 4pm Ice-bar après-ski party, dinner served from 7pm, Wednesday is fondue evening. Reservations necessary for evening dinner.
it is located just before the St Christoph 4-man chairlift, at the bottom of Blue 8.
