Avoriaz is easily accessible by air, with three airports within a couple of hours' drive. Geneva airport, just one hour away, is great for ski weekends. You will find transport easier from Geneva than any other airport due to the high number of transfer firms and shared transfer operations on this route. Expect to pay about €35 per seat but be sure to arrive during the cable car opening hours if you are on a transfer that drops off at the base station. If you are hiring a car, make sure you book it from the Swiss side (not the French side) of Geneva airport as they automatically provide snow chains (and you will avoid having to pay 40 Swiss Francs to use the Swiss motorway). This isn’t a great option though as Avoriaz is car-free and your hire car will do nothing all week in an expensive car park.
 
Cluses and Thonon are the closest main stations to Avoriaz.  Whilst you will easily find a transfer to resort from either station (approximately 30 minutes by road) it can take a long time to get there by train and this is not the easiest way to access this particular resort. Avoriaz is one of the easiest ski resorts to reach by car - under 600 miles from Calais. The motorways are the quickest route but you will have to pay around €67 in toll charges each way.  Allow about 9 hours driving time from Calais.
