Accomplished on-piste skiers will be in seventh heaven testing their prowess on difficult blacks and itinerary 'ski-tour' routes (marked pistes that are patrolled but not groomed). Mont Fort, at 3300m, is regularly billed as one of the 'Top 10 black runs in the world' but many instructors will tell you that the faces of Tortin, Col des Gentianes and Mont Gele - all itinerary routes - are harder to conquer.
Beginners:
The rollers and winding changing camber of Le Rouge, below Carrefour, is good for building confidence and especially suitable in cold conditions as it isn’t very high.
Intermediates:
Piste de l’Ours is one of the women’s championship downhill circuit runs, and one of the best in the 4 Vallees.
Advanced:
Savoleyres Nord is a small, steep-pitched black run which joins to the red. It’s well-groomed with nice bumps/powder flanking it.
Off-piste:
There are vast tracts of off-piste including the back of Mont-Fort, Highway, Stairway to Heaven and Mont-Gele (make sure you take a guide with you).
