Food and drink - Laax/Flims - Switzerland

Classic Swiss dishes can be found in the local restaurants, as well as more gourmet options, such as at the Tegia Curnius which has recently been renovated. With 20 mountain restaurants there are plenty of options to choose from whilst up the hill. For something a bit different, try the La Vacca steakhouse that is in a real wigwam next to Plaun station.

The nightlife in the village itself is quiet, relaxed and chilled out, centered on the excellent Livingroom bar, several good local restaurants, the Flem Massiv club and various hotel bars and clubs, although après-ski on the hill is certainly a scene worth checking out. If you're looking for something louder, then easy access to Laax, (10 minutes by Arenashuttle), and the nearby city of Chur, (around 15 minutes by Postauto), means you can undoubtedly find something to suit

Five to try

Clavau Vegl:
A favourite due to its generous portions and local specialities.

Il Tschaler:
A new restaurant offering possibly the widest range of specialty fondues in the area.

La Vacca:
Widely regarded as one of the more gourmet restaurants on the mountain offering a wide variety of steaks and meat from the grill.

Livingroom Bar:
One of the best bars in Flims for atmosphere and an all round relaxed night out.

Segnes wine bar:
A very extensive list of wines from around the world as well as a good selection of whiskies, brandies and other spirits.

Our penny’s worth

There is some great food to be had in Switzerland (albeit mostly of the cheese variety!) so don't hesitate to try a variety of things off the menu. We'd recommend the Assiette Valaisanne - a sort of Swiss ploughman's lunch - dried and cured meats served with local cheeses, gherkins, pickled onions and homemade bread. Rosti is also worth a try; grated potato that is gently fried or baked, and served either as a side order or main course with various additions including eggs, ham or bacon.
