Rodelalm
St Anton,
+43 (0)69 1085 8855
Located by following the signs saying Rodelbahn from Gampen. The Alm is half way down the track on the right-hand side. This is a truly great Austrian experience for young old, first-timers and the experienced. Either toboggan (or ski) in the day to enjoy the Alm as a mountain restaurant, or better sill, hire a rodel and enjoy real Tyrolian food and night rodelling! Your lift pass does not cover the gondola ride after 4.30pm, you must buy a ticket. Either Rodel all the way down the 4.2km natural toboggan run, through the snowy trees, or stop half-way to eat at the original mountain hut. Complete with cosy central fire, the food is excellent in large portions and includes the famous pig's trotters (€15.50) and the largest schnitzel in St Anton. Open 10am-5pm on normal days, 10am-11pm Tues & Thurs - but check if open on snowy days as heavy snow covers the track. Definitely not for vegetarians or children as no real menu although they may do smaller portions. Reservations are a must.
