Mad Dog Ski: Ski Resort guidebooks for Austria, France, Italy and Switzerland

Food and drink - Sainte Foy - France

Savoie fare - F.CavazannaAlthough Sainte Foy is certainly not the mecca of the apres-ski scene like some of the nearby resorts, there are still several cosy restaurants where you can sample the Savoyard cuisine, which fits the bill after a hard day in the mountains. There are also some excellent lunch stops, such as Chez Merie in Miroir. If you want variety however, you may have to travel.

If you are self-catering, the Sherpa supermarket has a good selection of fresh & frozen foods. This is also the place to stock up on the local wines, not to mention beers and spirits.

Five to try

Restaurant les Brevettes
Great for rustic traditional food with lovely plat du jour, homemade ravioli, and good hot chocolate.

Chez Merie

Deliciously simple regional cuisine with a Provencal twist, meat orientated but with the freshest of ingredients.

Pitchouli bar
Apres-ski hot spot with a relaxed atmosphere, great terrace and do good pizzas.

Restaurant La Bergerie

Simple and filling mountain fare lunches and an extensive yet expensive evening menu.

Restaurant le Bec de l'Ane
Serves snacks, crepes and ice-cream, take-away pizza and sells local and home-made produce.

Our penny’s worth

If you can’t find what you’re after in Sainte Foy, it’s definitely worth travelling that little bit further for some delicious cuisine. Bourg St Maurice (20 minutes drive) has numerous places to eat, ranging from traditional Savoyard restaurants to Vietnamese. Most places are on the main road or the pedestrian streets in the centre of town. Nearby Val d'Isere and Tignes are also packed with restaurants and bars.
