Sainte Foy is a small resort and boasts few queues, no crowds and lovely wide pistes- so plenty of room for the family to have fun skiing and snowboarding without fear of losing children or being wiped out by the crowds. As an added bonus, kids under seven ski for free. There is an
ESF ski school in Sainte Foy with English speaking instructors who run a morning ski school for children catering for beginner to advanced level skiing. There is a lovely beginners' ski slope centrally located at the bottom of the first lift with a restaurant next to it where parents can sit & watch their child's first time on skis.

Where to stay
Self-catering is sometimes this easiest choice when you have kids, as you don't have to worry set meal times and have the freedom to do and go where and when you like.
Interhome is one of the largest brokers of holiday apartments in Europe, with plenty of self-catering options.
Alternatively, if you want to go with a tour operator (easy if you want all you bookings/transport etc done in one go) try
Alpine Answers. The website is easy to use, and the 'Late Deals' section is particularly good. If you are flexible in your holiday plans this is an easy way to find a deal. All budgets catered for and prices include flights.
Top ski school tips
- Children generally can start skiing from around four years old (older for snowboarding)
- Young children, or those new to skiing, may only manage half a day - it can be very tiring when they're not used to it
- Plenty of high factor suncream is essential - factor 30+ and water resistant
- Younger eyes are more sensitive so it is important to make kids wear good quality sunglasses or goggles all the time. If you only plan to buy one or the other, buy goggles.
- If possible, book with an instructor who speaks good English so your child can understand the instructions and if there's a problem, they can understand it
