Mad Dog Ski: Ski Resort guidebooks for Austria, France, Italy and Switzerland

On the piste - Le Grand Bornand - France

There are five main areas: Le Maroly, Le Col des Annes, La Floria, Le Lachat and Joyere. Depending on the weather, and your goals for the day you can focus on one area.

Our favourite runs...

Beginners:
La Joyere is a sunny area with some great learner slopes together with some lovely blues. It's also where you are most likely to see a Gypaete, the largest bird of prey in Europe and a fabulous sight.

Intermediates:
Le Lachat can be very windy but there are some fun reds and challenging off piste.

Advanced:
Les Lanches, off Le Mont Lachat, is a steep red which gets icy and tests your edges.

Off-piste:
Le Col des Annes is a beautiful area with some great off piste or The Maroly is a beautifully sunny area and great to head to for powder, and gentle off piste for those who want to make first tracks but don't want to risk life and limb!
