The French ski resort of Courchevel is based in the Three Valleys ski area and is made up of five villages: 1850, 1650, 1550, Le Praz and La Tania. The ski area ranges from the lowest village (1260m) up to 3230m and much of the resort is ski in, ski out.

Le Chabichou (1850) – Two Michelin star restaurant with some good value set menus.

Le Darbeilo (Le Praz) – Classic French restaurant with amazing steaks and a wide range of fondues, raclettes and other local cuisine.

L’Eterlou (1650) – Budget meals of pizza and pasta as well as traditional food such as fondues and tartiflette. Good for families and groups.

Le Genepi (1850) – Fine French cuisine in an intimate setting – ideal for a romantic meal.

L’Oeil de Bouef (1550) – Intimate brasserie perfect for meat-lovers – also popular for après-ski.

Le Bel Air (1650) – Fabulous views, welcoming service and simple food – ideal for families and non-skiers.

(1850) – The best luxury mountain restaurant in the Three Valleys for an extravagant lunch.

Le Roc Tania
(La Tania) – Great location and good quality traditional food – stop here for apres-ski.

Rond Point (Meribel) – Lively atmosphere, great alternative to the local Savoyard cuisine – snack bar is also good for a budget lunch.

Where to stay in Courchevel 


1850 – Stay in Le Chabichou hotel for luxury or for a catered chalet, tour operator Scott Dunn have a range of chalets to choose from. For ski in, ski out accommodation, Le Courcheneige is located right on the piste. Mark Warner run the Chalethotel Dahu in the centre of 1850 – great for families and groups alike.

1650 - For a boutique hotel, stay in the Seizena or for family-orientated hotel, try the Chalethotel Les Avals run by Ski Olympic.

1550 Le Chanrossa is a friendly English-run hotel with a bar and restaurant perfect for nights out.

Le Praz Les Peupliers is a long standing favourite for the odd ski weekend and to stay in a smaller village of the resort.

La TaniaHotel Telemark offers reasonably priced accommodation.

Alternatively, take the train from the UK to the nearby Alpine station Moutiers, with the Eurostar ski train or Rail Europe’s Snow Train.

To get from the airport to Courchevel, you can take a transfer, hire a car or take an airport bus.

Skiing and snowboarding in Courchevel


Beginners:
There are excellent nursery slopes above both 1650 and 1850.

Intermediates:
Try the long, sweeping Combe de la Saulire from top to bottom first thing in the morning.

Advanced:
If you love moguls, try the black Suisses and Chanrossa runs.

Off-piste:
For newcomers to off-piste, the Tour du Rocher de l’Ombre is well worth a visit. Always take a guide.
