Top tips for

Flying

St Anton is conveniently located close to three airports  above and as the resort is blessed with a train station bang in the centre, you won't be compelled to hire a car but can simply hop on the train for a transfer (almost) direct to your accommodation.

Innsbruck is the closest airport to the resort, and easyjet are now operating flights there from London, making it more accessible to skiers. Friedrichshafen is servced by Ryanair (cheap but watch those baggage surcharges!). Finally, Zurich, although furthest away, is still accessible as the train transfer is a reasonable three-hours (with only one change if you're clever about it!).

Train

One of the joys of St Anton is that it has a train station right in the resort. If you are staying in or near the centre, then you will be able to walk to your accommodation. Otherwise, if you have heavy bags / skis, there are usually taxis outside the station.

The service is generally reliable although do make sure that you check the relevant websites to limit the number of changes you need to make.

Transfers

The Arlberg Express runs a shuttle service between Zurich airport and St Anton. Prices from €45 one-way. Loacker Tours offers a weekend shuttle to the Arlberg from Friedrichshafen. Their buses are conveniently timed to coincide with Ryanair flights. Prices from €30 one-way.

For door-to-door, taxis are a good option, although not the cheapest.

Self-drive

St Anton is a compact resort so you don't really need a car while you are there. However, if you'd rather drive and are not taking your own, then you can hire a car at any of the airports.

Winter tyres, snow chains and ski racks are normally available at additional costs - make sure you request them when booking. You are required by law to carry snow chains and the police set up checkpoints during bad weather to enforce this. It is well worth carrying warm and waterproof clothes and gloves and a torch for when you have to put your snow chains on.
