On the piste - Schladming - Austria

Schladming has it all, from the one of the most extensive cross-country areas in Austria and the excellent standard of skiing on the Dachstein Glacier, to the challenge of the fastest World Cup downhill and winding intermediate pistes flowing through tree-lined runs. Snowboarders will also enjoy this resort, with three half-pipes and wide-open pistes.

February to mid-March offers the best skiing, while the middle of January as well as mid-March to April offers special deals.

Our favourite runs

Beginners:
Rohrmoos offers an extensive area for the absolute beginner to learn in and is ideally situated on a stunning sunny plateau served with a good mix of lifts.

Intermediate:
Hauser Kaiblin 8; ring th ebell if you go via the woods or schuss down - short but sweet.

Advanced:
If you are an experienced skier, Planai 3/Planai 3 top to bottom makes the legs burn and gets the heart racing.

Off-piste:
For the very experienced skier the glacier offers some great freeride opportunities. You can either follow the marked routes or hire a guide. The Edelgrieß offers a great run if you can stomach eddging along the sheer drop to the start point.
