Most restaurants offer traditional good hearty fare of sausages and dumplings, washed down with a glass or two of locally distilled fruit schnapps. The resort restuarants are mainly in the centre of town with some Chinese and Itallian fare on offer. The apres-ski scene is large with a mix of loud bars and the more civilised. Mountain restaurants are dotted all over, marked on the piste map in yellow. Most run self-service and prices are reasonable throughout.

When out on the mountain try the "germknudel" - a doughnut-like pastry with apple sauce inside drenched with vanilla sauce. It is also definitely worth trying the region's finest brews from various flavours of schnapps to the different types of beer. Vegetarians are generally well catered for, you will always find creative salads and the traditional cheese based dishes.
