As befits Kitzbuhel's reputation as a glamorous destination, the quality of restaurants is high in the town, although Austrian cooking is not renowned for being slimming, and you should generally expect food that will keep you going on the mountain. However, there is enough variety here to keep the gourmets happy, as well as various international
restaurants on offer. Kitzbuhel is a particularly good resort for lunch spots, and there are plenty of Tyrolean
mountain huts where you can get together for a quick bite or a more relaxed lunch in convivial surroundings.
Kitzbuhel is famous for is its legendary nightlife, which continues into the small hours, and its reputation draws party animals from far and wide. The
apres-ski is an event not to be missed, with a huge number of snow bars and terraces so inviting it seems impossible not to enjoy a beer at the end of the day. With an enormous number of bars to choose from, as well as nightclubs and a casino, you won't be stuck for something to do as the night's reveling gets underway.

Huber butcher: Sells a wide variety of meat and fish; it has a small seating area where you can enjoy good value meaty meals! Tirol is famous for its pork in particular.
Hornkopfl-Hutte: Even though there is a bit of an up-hill climb to get to this restaurant it is still uber-popular, something to do with the good food and sunny terraces.
Brass Monkey: Run by a couple of Northern English lads this place gets great reviews for hospitality and general hedonistic fun. They serve bar snacks and show sport.
The Londoner:This famous long running bar is a bit of a tradition (albeit expensive) and gets very crowded and noisy but is great fun.
Our penny's worth
Don't just stick to what you know best. Austrian cuisine is definitely up there with the best of them and you really should dip in and out of the local cuisine. Try Wiener Schnitzel, a traditional dish of breadcrumbed and fried veal escalope. Tafelspitz is the most famous food, regarded as Austria’s ‘national dish’ and consists simply of boiled beef. Goulash, which is made of beef, pepper, paprika and onion is also worth a taste, and don’t forget Apfelstrude - the classic pudding.
